Project EverGreen’s expands Military Family Initiatives to help veterans

In honor of Military Family Appreciation Month and Veteran’s Day, Project EverGreen announces the expansion of two its most popular initiatives that provide military personal and their families with complimentary and much-needed outdoor services.

Both Green Care for Troops (GCFT) and SnowCare for Troops (SCFT) programs will be expanded to include wounded and disabled veterans in addition to families of currently deployed military personnel with lawn care, landscape, and snow and ice removal services.

“With more than 1.4 million active-duty personnel currently serving in the U.S. military including more than 160,000 personnel deployed in 150 countries across the globe, the need to support the families of those holding down the home front is significant,” says Cindy Code, executive director of Project EverGreen.

According to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, there are more than 3.6 million veterans with a service-related disability and the need for day-to-day household and lifestyle assistance services is a major need area.

The GCFT initiative, underwritten by Toro, currently serves more than 10,000 families with 4,500 lawn and landscape contracts participating. Its sister initiative, SCFT, underwritten by BOSS Snowplow, currently serves more than 3,750 families with nearly 1,400 snow and ice contractors volunteered to provide these much needed services.

“We’re very grateful for the continued support from our friends at BOSS Snowplow and Toro, and the leadership they have demonstrated in support of military families goes above and beyond the call of duty,” says Code. “We’re thrilled to expand this program for wounded and disabled veterans. It’s important to Project EverGreen and our dedicated volunteer base to continue supporting our veterans in their critical time of need.”

“The members of the U.S. military comprise the most amazing fighting force on the planet,” said Mark Klossner, marketing director for BOSS Snowplow. “Supporting our troops is what SnowCare for Troops is all about. Every month more and more snow removal and landscape professionals offer their services to help military families. They offer their time and energy showing their appreciation to our service members, and we look forward to a very active year.”

BOSS will extend their support of the SnowCare for Troops program for a fifth season. For more information on participating or signing up a military family for Project EverGreen’s SnowCare for Troops or its sister program GreenCare for Troops, visit www.ProjectEvergreen.org.
